NGO Zero Waste Society was registered in September 2018 in Kyiv city with the aim of solving the waste issues in Ukraine, focusing on prevention and reduction strategies.
Since then, we have co-founded the Ukrainian public association Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine, became members of the Ukrainian Climate Network and international organizations and movements Zero Waste Europe, Break Free From Plastic, and IPEN network.
With the support of our partners, donors and volunteers, we investigate the origins of the waste and plastics related issues and its consequences in Ukraine, join and organize various campaigns and projects in Ukraine, work with different audiences, and spread knowledge about solutions.
Ukraine, in which resource waste is reduced to zero.
There are enough aware people in Ukraine who, through their actions, contribute to reducing resource waste and stimulate manufacturers to develop products that are safe for human health and the environment.
We raise awareness about zero waste and the circular economy, and the harmful effects of plastics and chemicals on human health, the environment, and climate change at every stage of the life-cycle, from extraction to disposal.
We strive for systemic change to reduce resource waste, waste generation, and protect human health.
We advocate for the principle of extended producer responsibility, so that businesses are held accountable for the harm their products and packaging cause to the environment and human health, rather than passing it on to consumers.
We work impartially, adhere to ethical standards, talk openly about complex topics, and do not simplify problems for convenient solutions. We use sources that we trust and openly cite them.
We understand that the environmental issues we want to solve require the cooperation of many people, and therefore we unite an active community and collaborate with other organizations and initiatives to achieve a common goal.
We only accept funding that does not compromise our ability to operate in accordance with our values and communicate freely, fully, and objectively.
